As we look ahead to an exciting new year, we celebrate some of Shoes That Fit’s accomplishments and milestones. Here are just a few of the highlights:
Amy Fass, long-time supporter, took the helm as Executive Director, bringing with her years of experience in nonprofit development and consulting.
Members of Village Marketing Group, our local Claremont Village merchants, hosted two annual events, Spring For Shoes and Shoes For Back-To-School, which provided more than 450 students with new athletic shoes, backpacks and school supplies. Special thanks to Mike Manning, owner of The Last Drop Café for coordinating both events.
Shoes That Fit welcomed two new staff members; Clare Chadwick, Development Director and Nekeda Newell-Hall, Director of Corporate Engagement. Both bring substantial experience and insight to the Shoes That Fit team.
Our volunteer Bob Montgomery of OnMedia Ad Sales in Des Moines, IA hosted his 7th annual golf tournament raising approximately $22,000 to provide new shoes, hats and gloves to children in need throughout Iowa! 25 employees from OnMedia Ad Sales and Mediacom served as volunteers for the day and really helped the tournament run smoothly. Subway once again sponsored this fun event.
Thanks to favorable reviews from our volunteers and supporters, Shoes That Fit was named a Top Rated Nonprofit by Great Nonprofits!
The Ahmanson Foundation awarded Shoes That Fit a generous grant of $75,000 to support our Emergency Warehouse Expansion project, which begins construction later this month and helps us reach more children!
Shoes That Fit was proud to be featured in several online and print magazine articles, most notably Footwear Plus Magazine, Parade Magazine and a Huffington Post Blog!
Nordstrom and New Balance partnered with Shoes That Fit for our fifth annual Holiday campaign to provide 15,000 children in need across the U.S. with new New Balance shoes in time for the holidays!
Shoes That Fit supporters participated in a Holiday Half Marathon and 5K Run at Pomona Fairplex (CA) and raised more than $3,000! We also received a very generous $5,000 sponsorship from Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center and a $1,000 contribution from Foothill Transit. This was a fun-filled event and we are eagerly looking forward to 2015’s race!
