You know your community best. If you have a school in mind that you would like to help, call them and tell them what you want to do. At Shoes That Fit, we use a combination of student population and percentage of children on free and reduced-price lunch programs as an indication of need. The important
thing here is to be flexible. While most schools will be thrilled with
your offer to help their students, some are so
overwhelmed by their day-to-day tasks that they will be unable to
work with you
successfully. If the school liaison does not return your phone
calls or just doesn’t seem to follow through, you will probably
want to find another school.
