The Baker family had just registered their three children at their local Portland high school. The family had fallen on hard times, and were living in a single motel room. Despite the fact that Mr. Baker was working full-time, what he earned was just enough to pay the motel rent and for food.  Unfortunately, the teens were growing rapidly, and all three of them were in need of new shoes. Thankfully, their high school was a Shoes That Fit recipient, and their school counselor leapt into action. She measured the boys and through the Shoes That Fit program at her school, each of them received a new pair of athletic shoes.

“You should have seen their faces!” The liaison told Shoes That Fit. “I think Mom cried. Dad was overwhelmed and the kids couldn’t believe their good luck!”
