As children head back to school, many families are struggling to meet their basic needs. It is difficult to imagine but 1 in 5 children in the United States and 22% of children in California live in poverty.
Join HMC Architects and Shoes That Fit to help children in our most vulnerable communities get the shoes they need to attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play, and thrive. Since 1992, Shoes That Fit has provided over 2.4 million pairs of brand new shoes and other necessities to children across the United States.
In 2017, HMC donated more than 100 pairs of shoes to children in need. This year we are kicking off another (COVID safe) shoe drive in partnership with Shoes That Fit and there are many ways you, your friends, and family, can participate. Here are all the details:
WHEN: The shoe drive will run from Sept. 13 – Oct. 15
WHY: Shoes That Fit currently needs 372 pairs of shoes to stock their warehouse for the fall.
HOW TO DONATE:
1. Buy a pair of shoes and drop them off at Carlos’ desk at HMC Ontario. Make sure to include a post-it note with your name on the shoe box so we know who they are from.
2. Buy a pair of shoes online and send them directly to the Shoes That Fit warehouse (address below). Email Adrienne with the # of shoe(s) donated and size(s) so she can keep track of the donations and shoes sizes on the master list.
3. Buy a pair of shoes and drop them off at the Shoes That Fit warehouse in Claremont. Email Adrienne with the # and size(s) of your shoe donation(s). And please call Shoes That Fit before you drop off.
