Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers Corey LaJoie and Darrell “Bubba” Wallace Jr., are no strangers to being out front and leading the way—both on and off the race track. So when given the opportunity to partner with Rack Room Shoes to help students in their community at their High School alma mater, the two drivers raced to say yes!

The two-day event geared up on Giving Tuesday, as LaJoie and Wallace greeted fans at a Rack Room Shoes at Concord Mills Mall in Concord, NC, where the drivers helped raise donations to provide shoes for the local community. For more than 10 years, Rack Room Shoes has partnered with Shoes That Fit to bring new athletic shoes to children in need in the communities where their employees live and work.

“Our team is very humbled by our customers’ willingness to join our company-wide mission of supporting programs, such as Shoes That Fit. We wouldn’t be able to impact our communities in such a profound way without their generosity and support.” – Mark Lardie, Rack Room Shoes President and CEO

Following Giving Tuesday, LaJoie, Wallace Jr. and representatives from Rack Room Shoes delivered new athletic shoes to 200 students at Northwest Cabarrus High School. The students had been previously measured for the perfect fit, and were given the opportunity to meet and take pictures with their favorite drivers, who helped distribute the shoes.

“Kids are the future. If I can do one small thing to encourage and help them put their best foot forward, then I'm up for it. Kids need shoes and my partnership with Shoes That Fit helps to make sure they get them.” – Corey LaJoie

“When I first heard about Shoes That Fit and Corey LaJoie working together to bring comfort to kids in our area, I knew I needed to get involved. By doing our part, and presenting these recipients with new shoes, I think we’re making a small but noticeable investment in the future of our generation.” – Bubba Wallace

For Corey LaJoie and Bubba Wallace Jr., the two days of giving were an opportunity to give back in the communities they once called home. And for the kids at Northwest Cabarrus High School who received new shoes and meet two local legends, it was a day they will never forget.
