Shoes That Fit was honored to partner with Mujeres De Hoy (Women of Today) a non-profit supporting women who are victims of domestic violence. Mujeres De Hoy is made of community-members and alumni of their life skills program. The non-profit primarily supports the community of Van Nuys, CA.
Mujeres de Hoy led a joint effort to crowdfund and purchase brand new, brand-name athletic shoes for thirty children of families in need. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Mujeres De Hoy invited the families to an outdoor “Shoe Party” and celebration of gratitude and community.
Ms. Mayra Todd, the founder of Mujeres De Hoy, expressed excitement as she looks forward to a yearly partnership with Shoes That Fit. “We partnered with Shoes That Fit because I knew partnering with this organization could help my community with one of the most basic needs, new shoes for children and youth. I learned about Shoes That Fit through a close family friend, and I am grateful. We are looking forward to this being a yearly fundraising effort, and my goal is to raise funds to increase the families we help every year.”
