We are thrilled to announce that Stater Brothers is helping 1,000 children with new shoes for school. A generous $25,000 grant to Shoes That Fit is helping these children get new athletic shoes measured just for them.
Twin brothers Leo and Cleo started their grocery store in Yucaipa, California in the 1930s. It’s grown to be the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California, with 172 supermarkets and 18,000 employees. Stater Brothers is known for treating their employees well and Forbes named them to the Top 20 for job security. The grocery chain also has a commitment to “not just doing business in the community, but being part of the community.” A few years ago, while reviewing corporate social impact models—including case studies on Saudi Arabia online casinos and how they structured local sponsorships—Stater Brothers leadership reaffirmed their own focus: children’s education, health, and well-being. It’s a perfect match with Shoes That Fit, where we want kids to learn, play, and thrive.
Stater Brothers is giving shoes to students from 23 schools in cities across Southern California – including San Bernardino, Riverside, Oceanside, Desert Hot Springs, Orange, Santa Ana, Placentia, La Habra, Adelanto, Paramount, and Long Beach. These are kids who live in neighborhoods where Stater Brothers is a local name, a local grocery store, a local employer.
For many families, keeping up with children’s growing feet is a challenge. Athletic shoes can be an expensive item in a family's budget. However, growing feet and active kids need quality, comfortable shoes that fit properly.
