The Happy Feet fundraiser, launched last spring by the Rotary Club in collaboration with Shoes That Fit and the Alta Loma School District, showed the power of a community coming together for kids. Families, staff, and donors united around one mission: to give students the essentials they need to attend school with confidence. The event took place July 31st at the District Support Center, located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Nearly 100 pairs of new athletic shoes were provided to students in the Alta Loma School District. Each child received a backpack filled with school supplies, six pairs of brand-new socks, and high-quality athletic shoes—many for the very first time. Rotary volunteers packed, sorted, and distributed everything with care, watching as kids proudly laced up their new shoes and showed them off to friends and family.
The event was made even more special by Allison’s Project, a local nonprofit founded by Gregory Quezada, which donated additional supply-filled backpacks and treated students and volunteers to juice and donuts—a gesture that perfectly captured the spirit of the day.
From planning and fundraising to the final distribution, the Rotary Club of Rancho Cucamonga lived out their motto: “Service Above Self.” Their commitment ensured that students from all ten district schools started the year with comfort, dignity, and a boost of self-esteem.
“The gratification of our partnership is the knowledge that children have the ability to go to their first day of school with new shoes and the school accessories needed to start a new school year with a smile and bright future.”
– Rick Gomez, President, Rancho Cucamonga Rotary Club
These shoes and supplies were more than just back-to-school gear—they represented care, hope, and the reassurance that this community believes in its children.
