Gregg Stone, a retired teacher and founder of the Seal Beach, CA chapter of Shoes That Fit, continues to make a big impact for kids in the Long Beach Unified School District.

The Seal Beach Chapter is now in its fourth year of fundraising to support students in the Long Beach Unified School District. In their first year, they provided more than 50 pairs of shoes to local students. By year two, they doubled their goal—raising over $3,000 to support two schools. In year three, they grew their impact again, raising $4,500 and helping students at Edison Elementary, Nieto Herrera Elementary, and Lincoln Elementary Schools.

“I am an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan. I was scrolling on the Kershaw’s Challenge page one day and saw the “Shoes That Fit” logo on the website. I learned the founding story about how Shoes That Fit came to be. I grew up in Long Beach and worked for Long Beach Unified School District for fifteen years of my career. I have always had fond memories of growing up in the city and still feel connected in many ways. I started a chapter and named it the Seal Beach chapter because that is where I reside. However, I have made it clear to potential donors that our fundraising efforts for new shoes will be directed 100% to Long Beach kids.” -Gregg Stone, STF Seal Beach Chapter Founder

The chapter’s goal is to expand its fundraising to reach ten schools, raising more than $15,000. For Fall 2025, they are already well on their way—having raised nearly $6,000 to provide over 200 elementary students with the shoes they need to learn, play, and thrive.
