Vulcan Materials Co. employees came together and raised over $47,000 for new shoes for 1,350 children across California.
On an October morning, Vulcan delivered shoes to 100 children at Charles Bursch Elementary in Baldwin Park. The school is right down the road from one of Vulcan’s sites. And the next day, Vulcan team members delivered shoes to another 100 children at Vista Square Elementary in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego.
Vulcan didn’t just deliver shoes – they also gave 5 pairs of socks to each child (one for each school day!) and they gave a Vulcan pencil bag with a ruler, pencils, and more.
The kids all danced the Cupid Shuffle in their new kicks!
Vulcan also delivered shoes to children in:
Santa Rosa, Ontario, San Bernardino, another school in Chula Vista, Livermore, Bakersfield, Rohnert Park, and Palmdale.
Vulcan delivered 100 pairs of shoes and socks on a sunny Monday morning on November 8 to Los Banos elementary school. Along with Abbey Sanderson and Barbara Goodrich-Welk, the students were excited to receive new shoes from Crystal O’Bannon-Caplin and Steve Valencia, two Vulcan employees who had actually attended the same school as a child!
Thank you, Vulcan Materials for giving shoes that help children to be comfy and confident!
