On July 28th, Shoes That Fit was honored to accept a “Nonprofit of the Year” Award from U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu. During her 10th Annual Congressional Leadership Awards, the Congresswoman honored two local charities–one in the East San Gabriel Valley and one in the West–volunteers, educators and local activists. Congresswoman Chu praised Shoes That Fit for its dedication to providing over 124,000 children with new athletic shoes for children in need in the San Gabriel Valley and across the country this past school year.
Judy Chu represents the 27th District, which includes Claremont, Pasadena, Arcadia, and other cities nestled against the beautiful San Gabriel mountains in Southern California.
Claremont City Council members Jed Leano and Jennifer Stark were present at the award ceremony, as well as members of the Shoes That Fit Board. Ann Morgan, Board Chair of Shoes That Fit, accepted the award and expressed her appreciation.
Thank you to all our donors, volunteers, and partners who make our work possible. Your generosity brings shoes and smiles to kids across the United States!
