For the ninth consecutive year, Nexteer Automotive employees showed their holiday spirit by donating 95 new pairs of shoes, along with hats and gloves, to students of Henry Doerr Head Start in Michigan as part of a partnership with Shoes That Fit.

Over its nine-year history, Nexteer’s Shoes That Fit program has given more than 2,600 shoes to Michigan preschoolers.

“Nexteer employees know that giving is the reason for the season, which is why, year after year, they continue the Shoes That Fit program. This is a perfect time of year for giving, and nothing makes that clearer than seeing these children’s faces light up,” said Myiesha Smith, North American Community Affairs Specialist for Nexteer. “Due to tough economic circumstances, some families aren’t able to afford new shoes. By filling this basic need, the students can focus on their studies.”

The local chapter of Shoes That Fit was started in 2009 by the Breakfast of Champions Men’s Club as a grassroots initiative aimed at boosting self-esteem among local students.

“Our team members are demonstrating their commitment to bettering the communities they live in,” said Smith. “Giving back is part of our corporate culture, and this program is just one of many that Nexteer participates in throughout the entire year around the globe. We plan on continuing to embrace the holiday spirit throughout all of 2018 in all of our global regions where our Nexteer families live, work and raise their families.”
