John Elway’s Car Dealerships decided to have a contest between two of its locations: Crown Toyota in Ontario, California and Chrysler Dodger Jeep Ram in Claremont, California.

The dealerships were dueling over who could raise more shoes for the Shoes That Fit emergency warehouse, which serves local kids in the Claremont/Pomona area, where Shoes That Fit started out in 1992 and is still based.

The warehouse gives shoes to kids in need year round. Whenever a kid comes in to a local school in shoes that are too small or falling apart, the school staff can put in an order with our warehouse and come pick up new shoes in the correct size often that day or the next.

The two dealerships spread the word to employees and customers with brochures, flyers, posters, email blasts, social media, and mentioning the shoe drive on service calls. Plus everyone who donated was entered into a raffle for a football autographed by former Denver Broncos quarterback (and dealership owner) John Elway.

So, who won?

We think everyone did. The 116 kids who will receive brand-new Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Reebok, Skechers, or Vans definitely are winning. And the employees and customers of Crown Toyota and John Elway’s Chrysler, who go the great feeling of knowing they were helping local kids in need. And of course, the lucky person who won the autographed football!

Thank you! Your duel was a win-win!
