Shoes That Fit, the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation and the LAPD's Community Youth Activities League provide great coverage of LA kids!
On June 9th, kids from various Los Angeles youth groups were treated to a basketball clinic. Sixty kids got hands-on advice and tips from the Lakers' Health and Fitness Instructors and Lakers legend, A.C. Green.
In addition to the how-to's of hoops, the kids were treated to brand new Nike shoes thanks to the LAPD and an anonymous donor, offering an exciting experience for these young athletes to play the game with confidence and in comfort.
” Eighty percent of children in the Los Angeles Unified School District are living in poverty – well above the state average,” says Shoes That Fit Executive Director, Amy Fass. “This is an opportunity for our three organizations to make a difference in the lives of these kids so they can thrive, learn and play the way all kids should.”
“The LAPD is pleased to partner with Shoes That Fit and the Los Angeles Lakers,” says LAPD Sargent Heidi Stoecklein. “Through the power of sport, these kids are coming together to learn and play and through the gift of new shoes, they get to do so with dignity and joy.”
Shoes That Fit would like to thank the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation and the Los Angeles Police Department for filling these kids with confidence, hope, dignity and joy.
