“I had a student in 1st grade who would wear his father's shoes (about a size 12 men's) and they would be tightly tied around his foot with shoestrings, and would flop on his feet. Because of the Shoes That Fit program, I was able to go and get him a pair of new shoes to wear. When I put them on his feet, he was so proud of them! He showed them to his teacher and friends and told them these new shoes ‘helped him run faster.' I honestly don't think this child had ever had a brand new, unworn pair of shoes prior to this moment. He was beaming with pride! This opportunity allowed him to feel as special as the other students in his class and definitely made a difference in his attitude and confidence!”
